OUTLINE [Message]
Chairman

Currently in the Osaka/Kansai region, cutting-edge manufacturing
industries are being accumulated with major activities anew conducted
in the Osaka Bay Area, SAITO life Science Park, North Osaka District,
etc. with a mass of SMEs (Small and Medium-size enterprises)
supporting these industries.  With further consolidation of infra-
structure for transportation and physical distribution (Kansai
International Airport and the sea ports, etc.) plus the abundant tourism
resources, the whole region is right in the midst of a rebirth.
At such momentous timing, it is considered appropriate to set up “Uplift Osaka/Kansai Power with Everyone taking part” as a motto to gather up and concentrate all the power from the region’s companies, administrative and economic organizations on our common objectives.

In the New Product-making Industries (of the 3 groups of industries to pull the regional economy), good results have been achieved in the actual networking between large corporations and SMEs through our business-matching systems such as the ‘Digital Concept Partners’, etc.

For the Life Science Industry, new business has been created in the areas of medical device/appliances/instruments, and new drug development, and Osaka is becoming Japan’s main center for such areas of business.

Also, raising ‘promotion of tourism industry’, renewed attraction of Osaka has been effectively publicized through the ‘Night-life Culture’ project, ‘Certification Test on all about Osaka’, etc.  For completion of the PLAN, we will make all-out efforts.

On review of the PLAN to CREATE LIVELINESS in OSAKA, we will work out what to continue with and what to add to.  Also we will again closely consider the matter of promoting the industries for development (new products-making, tourism, life science), as well as the immediate tasks to tackle such as revitalization of SMEs, consolidation of truly required infrastructure (Kansai International Airport, expressways, etc.), redevelopment of city centers, revival of shopping streets/malls, invitation of companies to Osaka, etc.

From now on, we need to make special efforts on those inbound from, and business exchange with, Asia, with emphasis on our support to development of business involving the Osaka/Kansai companies, as well as on our active representations to the Government concerning strengthening of relations based on Economic Partnership Agreement and Free Trade Agreement.”

We would greatly appreciate your continued support and cooperation for our activities.
